Your Gazette Pet

That's a riff on an album I can't remember called Your Cassette Pet. Might have been Bow Wow Wow.

Anyhow we drew a blank getting to the bottom of what made the journal and magazine as, even though both are long out of copyright, there's no copy I could find online of those vital first issues.

Pointless postulating on past Post. I thought I would try to round up all the gazettes in Australia, since they held this dual role of being 'any newspaper' (the kind I expect to find this go round) and government records of all things official.
Apparently there were too many New South Wales papers, being the oldest colony, so one is directed to a separate page. In the meantime, one could surmise that hip Melbourne finds it too archaic; the gazettes there have all closed.

Western Australia had no newspapers of that name and South Australia has only South Australian Gazette and Colonial Register, sounding rather like the other kind of gazette, and then there's the defunct Kapunda Herald which had a section called The Midlands Gazette.

Tasmania dispensed with gazette titling after The Hobart Town Gazette (1816-1821)

In the Top End, past publications include Darwin papers The North Australian and Northern Territory Government Gazette, and The Northern Territory Times and Gazette,  who dropped the last part in 1927 and closed altogether in 1932.

New South Wales

has hundreds of newspapers as the all-knowing Wikipedia has pointed out. Even ignoring the import of those called gazettes, the state publishes far in excess of other Australian states.
